The journey took me to the 2014 world cup winner Jérôme Boateng, member of the German national men's soccer/football team. I first met Jérôme, one of the most down to earth people I have had the pleasure of working with, as I initiated the “German soccer for Life” project in collaboration with the DFB (German football federation). As a young man, Jérôme has been active in many different humanitarian projects around the world. Specially the ones fighting against racism within the youth.
When it comes to giving a statement for “Coexist”, I never give anyone a tip on what to write as they sign on the paintings. I let their imaginations flow and give them as much time as they need to write or say whatever they automatically connect the campaign and its basic idea with. As Jérôme wrote “No Racism!” on the painting after he had signed, it was as if he read my mind. It was the perfect statement coming from him, for that is what he tirelessly fights for.
Thank you Jérôme for your great support.
